The miraculous picture detached itself from a wall in a church in Albania during a Turkish invasion. Suspended in the air, without any physical support, it miraculously crossed the Adriatic Sea, followed by two pilgrims. the two men walked over the waves without stinking. After this miraculous crossing, the picture stopped in the village of Genazzano, not far from Rome. There it settled on April 25, 1467 in front of a wall of a half-built church. To this day it stands upright without support, in defiance of gravity.
